The 27th Sailing Point Easter Regatta is set to kick off with a bang, with over 450 boats signed up to race in the highly anticipated annual sailing event from 19 to 21 April 2019.

Velikonocna regata 2018
Organised by the Yachting Club Pirat, the international regatta will see sailors aged 7 to 15 years from Austria, Azerbaijan, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Liechtenstein, Malta, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Netherlands, Portugal and New Zealand vying for coveted prizes in five divisions: overall, girls, cadet boys, cadet girls and best ranked club in the event.

Out of the massive fleet, we can highlight the participation of Luka Zabukovec (SLO), last year's winner who will once again try to dominate the home waters, while in the girls division all eyes will be on Alenka Valenčič, an absolute favorite after finishing second in 2018.

The third largest optimist event in Europe, however, is not eagerly awaited just by the competitors, but by the event's organizers too. "We are thrilled to welcome over 450 international sailors at our upgraded premises. The regatta has grown to become one of the key events in the European Calendar and we were really committed to provide so many talented sailors with excellent sailing facilities," says the president of the organizing committee Marjan Matevljič, who is now looking forward to a fierce competition on the water.

A series of social events, such as the meeting with turtle mascot to promote sustainability practices, welcome dinner, overall awards presentation and the Grand Prize Draw have also been planned to ensure ample opportunities for socializing.

Racing commences on Friday 19th April at 11:00 with three races scheduled.
