It was a beautiful morning to kick off the first day of the 27. Easter Regatta, sponsored by Sailing Point and hosted by the JK Pirat Portorož, as nearly 450 boats in the Optimist class took to the water.

The first day of the 2019 Easter Regatta started with a great day of racing for all five groups. We had a slight delay to the start until a sea breeze kicked in and some of the fleets took a few attempts to get the racing away with a few general recalls and AP's as we waited for the breeze to settle in.

The course was a great length and really tested the sailors knowledge of working with the shifts as they presented themselves. Nevertheless, all fleets enjoyed some fantastic racing easily completing 3 races with the top places all closely contested.

After day 1 it is Mic Mohr (GER) who leads the huge pack with only four points on the scoreboard. Lisa Vucetti (ITA) is second overall, tied on 5 points with Joze Montesano (ITA).

Racing continues today with the sea breeze forecast and plenty more sunshine.
